You've no doubt heard of the benefits for swapping You've no doubt heard of the benefits for swapping to a menstrual cup such as them being reusable and convenient as you're never at risk of running out as you only need one.
However did you know that they can be beneficial to some of the symptoms you may be experiencing during peri-menopause?
Sleep for longer (if you can!) - some menstrual cups can hold more than an average tampon giving you longer to sleep before having to get up and check. 
Great for heavy flows - some women have reported their periods have shortened and become less heavy since using a menstrual cup. We haven't seen any studies to back this up but a number of women have noticed a link.
They don't affect your pH - vaginal dryness can be a problem for some women during peri-menopause and using tampons can aggravate this as it changes the natural pH of your vagina

Tip of the Month - no matter how much you want to Tip of the Month - no matter how much you want to do them it's often easy to forget to do your pelvic floor exercises. We recommend you try and build them into your daily routine at a certain time or decide that you'll do it when you do a specific chore.
For example, I do them when I get up and wait for the kettle to boil when making a cup of coffee. I know others who do them whilst they clean their teeth. Do them whenever it works for you.

We spoke with our Fitness Guru, Katie Morris Fitne We spoke with our Fitness Guru, Katie Morris Fitness about the causes of pelvic floor problems and she advised that they problems can occur when the pelvic floor muscles are stretched, weakened or too tight.
Some people have weak pelvic floor muscles from an early age, whilst others notice problems after certain life stages such as pregnancy, childbirth or menopause.
Others have pelvic floor muscles that are too tight and cannot relax. This can be made worse by doing squeezing exercises and overworking the muscles without learning how to relax.
Pelvic floor muscle fitness is affected by a number of things. These include:
> not keeping them active or over working them
> being pregnant and having babies
> a history of back pain
> ongoing constipation and straining to empty the bowels
> being overweight, obese or having a body mass index (BMI) over 25
> heavy lifting (e.g. at work or the gym)
> a chronic cough or sneeze, including those linked to asthma, smoking or hayfever
> previous injury to the pelvic region (e.g. a fall, surgery or pelvic radiotherapy), and...
> growing older i.e. menopause
Although it is hidden from view, your pelvic floor muscles can be consciously controlled and therefore trained, much like your arm, leg or abdominal (tummy) muscles.
Strengthening your pelvic floor muscles will help you to actively support your bladder and bowel. This improves bladder and bowel control and reduce the likelihood of accidentally leaking from your bladder or bowel. Like other muscles in your body, your pelvic floor muscles will become stronger with a regular exercise program.

A phrase we have said to our kids for so many year A phrase we have said to our kids for so many years and now they seem even more important to us as women with menopause symptoms. If we hadn't shared our menopausal struggles with one another Menodelight would never have been launched.
Also, before lockdown we attended a few menopause events and found women were keen to share their stories and to listen to others. Hearing what worked for some women and listening to those who were further into their menopause journey was extremely helpful and reassuring to others (us included!).
